Don't Cram
Trying to cram your studies into one night or long session is not helpful. The mind can only absorb so much, so shorter and more spaced out sessions are the way to go.
Schedule Your Study Time
A set schedule for study time means you aren't running around at the last minute trying to cram. It also creates a routine that is beneficial to you, because even if you have caught up on your studies, you can use that time set aside to review your work and courses.
Be Consistent
It's also important for you to study at the same time each day. This helps studying become a regular aspect of your life, and it prepares you, both emotionally and mentally, to be productive at those times.
Set A Goal
You should set a specific goal for each study session. Consider what needs to be accomplished and strive for that. A study session with no direction is less effective than one with a goal to be reached. Also make sure there are no distractions, such as TV, phones, or music when studying.
No Procrastination
It can be all too easy to find reasons to not study, especially if its a subject you aren't interested in, or it's a hard subject. A successful student doesn't put off studying. Doing so means you are leaving studying to the last minute and then have to rush or cram, which will lead to errors.
Difficult First
It's best to start off with the most difficult task first because it requires the most focus, effort, and mental energy. If you leave it till last you tend not to have the energy left, making it harder. Clearing away the difficult tasks first means the rest is easier.
Always Review
It's important to review notes and work both before you begin to study and when you are done. Taking good notes in class is very important, and reviewing work will help you to remember important things learned that day.
Following these basic habits will go a long way in letting you be a success in high school and in later life.
